I really don't see how they stand to gain anything from doing this.
It's not like Sony is the maker of "every game" out there, and would stand to profit from an increase in new game sales as a result of this patent.
If they do in fact tag the games, and they make it impossible to play a used/borrowed/stolen/left behind game....then they are only shooting themselves in the foot. I can't see the superior console (Xbox) wanting to buy the rights to this hard/software because, what fool wants to **** their consumer base in the ass?
Oh yeah, right....Sony does. Hence the decade old console, hence the sht services they provide for "free', and hence the games they proudly have marked for their console, that aren't even coded to play correctly on their console.
I tell ya, once everyone is due for a new console, we have to change over to the Xbox and see how COD is when it's made for the console it's being played on.
